Hope this message finds you all well. Following our JUNO Win for “DEBUT”, 2008 Jazz Album of the Year, I have relocated to NYC to study with Ron Carter (Miles Davis’ bassist). An exciting start to the new year and a break from the cold, we performed at the International Jazz Festival in Haiti this past January and then jetted straight to Toronto where we finished up in the recording studio last week completing the second album to be released in May (Justin Time Records). And now the QUINTET is going back on the road!
Line-up: Brandi Disterheft on acoustic bass, Terra Hazelton on vocals, Chris Gale on tenor saxophone, Stacie MacGregor on piano/rhodes and Sly Juhas on drums. We will be performing a mixed palette of music from our swinging originals, to obscure Duke Ellington, to afro-beats featuring myself on Kalimba, and also new pop-influenced songs from the upcoming album featuring our vocalist, Terra Hazelton. (Bjork meets Joni Mitchell? ...anyhow my recent obsession with lyric writing battling the love for soulful instrumental music.) Looking forward to seeing you along the way. PS- Bring you’re dancing shoes. Kind Regards, Brandi Disterheft
